The first pan-European free-to-air 3D channel has begun broadcasting from the ASTRA 3B satellite at 23.5°E. Brava3D offers round the clock opera, ballet and concerts recorded at the major European venues, and joins the BravaHD channel already broadcasting from the same satellite. Brava3D is expected to encrypt its service in the future.

The December 19 Ajax vs Feyenoord football match in Rotterdam will be broadcast live in 3D via the ASTRA 3D Demo channel, also on ASTRA 23.5°E. This is the first 3D broadcast of a Dutch game and will be available for viewing on suitable 3D-ready receivers and TV screens in homes throughout Europe, and in a number of TV retailers across the Netherlands thanks to an initiative by ASTRA, Eredivisie Live, Endemol and Panasonic,.
