Viewing Back On Schedule

The rise in use of ‘second screen’ devices is prompting UK viewers to return to planning their TV viewing around TV schedules, a survey by media agency Carat has found. While PVR recording and on-demand catch-up services have enabled viewers to watch programmes whenever they want, the popularity of sharing a conversation about TV through social media is encouraging viewers to watch shows as broadcast.

Carat says that 57% of UK viewers of broadcast TV are using a second screen while watching TV and 33% are commenting on Facebook or Twitter about the show, and this has led to 35% of viewers now actively planning their evenings around what’s on.
