SES to launch Ka-band service with up to 20 Mbit/s in Germany

Luxembourg, 5 March 2013 - SES (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) announced today that it will offer its satellite broadband service SES Broadband with download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s in Germany starting in the second half of 2013. The enhanced service will become available once the Ka-band capacity on SES' ASTRA 2E satellite is operational.

The service, marketed by SES' wholly-owned subsidiary SES Broadband Services to Internet Service Providers, is designed for end users in remote locations all over Germany and will provide a highly competitive broadband offering with performance features comparable to terrestrial broadband services.

SES has been delivering satellite broadband services in Ku-band since 2007. The expansion of SES' Ka-band offering to Germany is the next step in the company's strategy to offer its customers an ever higher quality of service. In December 2012 SES became the first satellite operator to offer a 20 Mbit/s satellite broadband service in France.

"We are delighted to offer download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s to end users in Germany in the course of this year," said Patrick Biewer, Managing Director of SES Broadband Services. "We are convinced that the highly competitive new offering will satisfy consumers and help us in our endeavour to further expand our offer throughout Europe."

We will be showcasing our solutions at our exhibition stand at CeBIT 2013 in Hanover (Broadband & Communications Pavilion, Hall 13, Stand A38) from March 5-9, 2013.
