As well as airing on the UK’s BBC One channel (on the ASTRA 28.2°E Freesat platform), the one-off special Day Of The Doctor will be shown on TV and in cinemas in 75 territories, such as the Fox channel in Germany (on the ASTRA 19.2°E Sky Deutschland platform) and France 4 in France (CanalSat on ASTRA 19.2°E).

In the UK, the programme will be also broadcast in high definition on BBC One HD (ASTRA 28.2°E) and in 3D through the BBC HD ‘red Button’ service.

Doctor Who first broadcast on BBC TV in 1963 and, after a hiatus beginning in 1989, was revived in 2005.
