End for German Analogue

Viewers still watching the analogue satellite broadcasts will need to replace their analogue receiver with a digital model (for as little as €30) to continue to receive German programming. There is no need to realign or replace your satellite dish, unless it was installed more than about eight years ago.

Following the switchover, two part-time local channels are using the new digital broadcasting capacity to extend their hours and reach. The channels, a.tv from Augsburg and Franken Fernsehen from Nuremberg will begin broadcasting free-to-air 24 hours a day from ASTRA 19.2°E, for reception throughout Germany, and across Europe.
