The system automatically analyses and rates a programme for different video and audio features such as motion, brightness or laughter to produce a mood ‘fingerprint’ for the programme. Viewers can then select a programme according to how it compares in mood to others that they know and like, or to their own mood needs at the time. Currently, the Project is looking into a friendly consumer interface for the system.
The BBC broadcasts more than 30 TV channels via ASTRA satellites.
